Susan L. Brunson

We live in an amazing time of new knowledge in brain science and behavioral health which provides us with cutting edge skills in helping people recover and heal from emotional distress. With awareness that Depression is the leading disease on the planet, and Anxiety issues affect a majority of the population at some time in their lives, counseling professionals encourage people to seek objective compassionate help when needed.

I have extensive experience in working with people who had had traumatic experiences whether from child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, chronic bullying, or surviving natural disasters. I also work well with Social Anxiety issues, Depression, and Bipolar Disorders.  I am trained in Christian theology and have worked in ministry counseling. My own life experiences of growing up on military bases and living in different countries, has given me an appreciation for people of different cultures.

I believe the therapist/client relationship is the foundation for obtaining desired results in treatment.  I listen to the client in a comfortable safe environment, with a non-judgmental empathy. We develop an individualized treatment plan and I teach coping skills which have measurable results.  I look forward to working with you in reaching your goals in therapy and improving your life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas, Louisiana, and in Alabama. I have treated people of all age ranges for behavioral health issues for over 30 years. My experience includes being a therapist in outpatient therapy clinics, inpatient psychiatric units, residential treatment centers, group homes, outpatient medical clinics, and in private practice. I provide individual, group, and family therapy. I specialize in using Cognitive Behavioral treatment methods, along with Energy Psychology methods such as EMDR and Emotional Freedom Techniques. I am also a professional speaker and conduct seminars in my field.
