Kristin Barrs, MA, LPC

Kristin Barrs first began her counseling career in 2015 assisting substance users. She expanded and started working with individuals with mental health and co-occurring disorders in 2019. Her experience includes working with adults, teens and adolescents in various clinical settings.

She obtained her Masters Degree in Counseling from the Texas A&M University System – Prairie View A&M University. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Kristin is passionate about assisting others and believes in treating individuals with compassion, sensitivity and respect. Her specialties include Dual Diagnosis, Adjustment Disorder, Coping Skills, Divorce, Women’s Issues, Life Transitions, Self Esteem, Stress, Peer Relationships, Self-Harming and Bipolar Disorder. Her counseling approach is Eclectic and can utilize Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Reality Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

Kristin believes there is something to be learned from every experience in life, even those that are difficult. Her goal in counseling is to empower clients by helping them achieve emotional well-being and self-reliance by identifying and processing their emotions and developing healthy coping skills.
