Jennifer M. Hanson

MSW, LCSW (60707)

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for helping people attain fulfillment and gratitude in their lives. I was born and raised in a small town in Michigan and have had an interest in mental health since a young age.

I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Houston – Downtown in 2010, and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Houston in 2014. While working toward my clinical licensure, I focused my career on conducting therapy in inpatient hospital settings, which gave me an amazing opportunity to work with people with a variety of diagnoses and levels of functioning.

I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, conducting individual, group, couples, and family therapy. I have worked with people struggling to manage the effects of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, domestic violence, grief, OCD, schizophrenia, personality disorders, and more. I pride myself in my ability to make a personal connection with each of my clients, regardless of their background or their current adversities.

I use a variety of different research-based treatment modalities in therapy, dependent on each client’s personal needs. I enjoy using a strengths-based approach, and I have found Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to be most successful with the populations I’ve worked with thus far.

I am very passionate about reducing the stigma that has been associated with seeking help for emotional and psychological issues, and I strive to make sure each of my clients feel comfortable and supported on their journey to bettering themselves.
